Hello once again Family, Friends and Partners!
What a joy to be writing to you again.
This month has been amazing with lots to tell on what happened! To get to what I want to share with you on today I first have to tell you a little bit of what I did this month!
It was my mother’s 50th birthday on the 22nd of Feb, and so she decided to arrange a weekend away for the whole family in our favourite holiday destination Brenton on Sea!
My mother looks so amazing for her age and number of children she has, she really is an inspiration to me!
So on the Friday they drove up from Cape Town, picked me up in Heidelberg whereafter we drove the further 3 hours to Brenton On Sea.
It was so wonderful for me to catch up with my family after seeing then for the first time in 6 weeks
I had great fun practicing my photo skills too!
Back in Heidelberg I’ve been going on more outreaches with the Second Year students,
ministering on the streets
in old age homes, in the college,
and to children!
Then to get to the topic that I want to chat with you on today, we had a guest speaker Will Graham at college on Thursday.
He ministered to us and then in the last period he took some time to minister to us.
How wonderful is it so hear from God, and how wonderful is it to hear that God is thinking about you, knows what’s going on in your heart and wants to help you sort thru it!
As we were listening to teachings on leadership in 3rd year the point of vision and purpose kept coming up.
If you don’t have a vision, people will find it very hard to follow you. Not only that but you need long term visions and short term visions.
Many people tend to think on “one day” I’ll do this or do that, and then tend to forget about the here and now.
One of the points that the teachers shared with us is that you need to have a short term vision too.
What are you doing in the environment that you are in right now? To get where you want to go. What is your vision for the place you are in now?
So as I was meditation on these questions, one point stood out for me, and that is if you want to know where you are to go next, what you need to do next and so on - you need to hear God’s Voice.
In John 10:27 we read God saying:
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them and they follow me.
We are God’s sheep and therefore we know we can hear His voice! If you believe the Word of God is true, then you need to believe that you can hear His voice too!
He is a good God, He loves and cares for you so much. He speaks to you all the time but you have to listen!
Let me use this example
If you get a phone call, from a number you have never seen before, but when you pick up the phone and say Hello, or however you like to answer the phone :)
When you hear the words “Hey Honey”
You just know it’s your mother (or your father, spouse, sibling, best friend etc). You just know it!
How do you know that? Because you have build a relationship with her! You have spend so much time with her that you can recognise her voice anywhere!
Same works with God! If you spend time with Him, in His Word (He’s love letters for you) you will get to know Him!
You can speak to Him on just daily things! You don’t have to only go to Him when you have a problem, need or want something! Just talk to Him like a friend, like a Father!
Also a conversation goes two ways!
Go be quite read the Word of God, but then as many of us (including myself) do is we keep talking instead of just shutting up and LISTENING.
The Lord knows your heart, sometimes it helps to pour out your heart before Him, but if you spend time with Him. You will come to discover how often and much He speaks to you - how much He loves you. This will then encourage and strengthen you.
It is then that you can truly find your purpose, He will start to show you in the small things do this, now do that. Sooner or later you will find yourself living in the full plan that God has for your life!
