Hello Friends Family and Partners!
I’m a little late with my post this month, the month has gone just a little faster than expected!
Firstly let me share a few things on what I’ve been up to.
We have such a wonderful group of ladies in our college, we decided to take a morning to just bless each other.
Have cake, tea and all things nice! I also wanted an excuse to bake a bit and thought it to be an wonderful excuse!
One of our classmate and hostel friends’ sister came to visit in Heidelberg for her birthday so we also got to explore some of the other wonderful places around Heidelberg!
I’ve never had sushi in my life and so even we made sushi! How fun and delicious it was too!!
It was also the end of our first 10 weeks at college….which means holiday! I must admit as much as I love college it was great to sleep in a little bit, as well as resting a little bit from all the college work :)
On the Friday before I went home for a week, my older brother CJ asked his beautiful girlfriend Larize to be his life-parter asking her to marry him! How awesome it was!!
And if that was not enough for a wonderful evening - my father surprised me with taking the bus all the way up to Heidelberg so that I didn't have to drive home alone the next morning!
Back in Cape Town, I got to see some of my very dear friends and former class mates from my 1st and 2nd year in Charis Cape Town!
It was also a very special lady’s 21st birthday and she had a very special dinner which I was so honoured to be a part of!
Speaking of wonderful surprises! The week that I was home, there was a Bridal Expo just around the corner from our home, which we got to visit with the Bride to be and all her special friends, sister and soon to be sister-in-laws!
We are so excited to be sharing this special day with Larize!
Speaking on the topic of weddings and love! I did not only visit with friends, family and drink coffee back home!
Part of the 3rd year program is book reports! So me being a slow reader I made a point of finishing a book in the 2 weeks of college holiday!
But this book is the topic that I would like to share with you about today! This book is called One Flesh by Bob Yandian. Bob Yandian is one of the Colorado College Instructors as well as being a Pastor for over 33 years!
This book that he wrote is about relationship, love and marriage. Yes I know what you are thinking. “Heidi your not married yet!” Very well I am not, but the amazing thing about this book is, it’s not written for people only in relationships or married couples. This book is for all, both single, married and even divorced people.
This book has changed my way of thinking and my heart in many ways, for the better.
In this book Bob Yandian shares on personal experience how his marriage almost came to an end.
He takes away this fairytale idea that a lot of people have about marriage, falling in Love by taking it to the next level of what a godly marriage is, in a balance for both males and females.
In all the teachings I’ve ever got on what it means to be single and what a wonderful time of your life you can make it to be, I never had it explained as good as it was explained in One Flesh.
Let’s be honest, there is a lot of young people out there that desire to be in a relationship and there are others that are very scared of it. I can say I was there for a long time, but since Bob Yandian explained the importance of establishing who you are in Christ first my heart now understand it too. Not just my head!
Being single is a wonderful time of our lives! Whether you are single before marriage or divorced, this is a time for you to establish a strong relationship with your Heavenly Father. You have more time now to learn the Word of God, learn who you are in Christ and build that strong foundation with Him than you will have once you get married.
Matthew 6:33 says:
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
This is the time for you to seek God and His kingdom, build that relationship with Him that will carry you the rest of your life!
Don’t wish it over, enjoy it, have fun, take risks and learn to trust God!
On arrival back at college, we jumped right back in to new planning! Part of the Charis 2nd year program is mission trips!
As 3rd years we can volunteer to help out with all the planning. So I decided on helping out for the Zambia mission trip! I guess I did not quite know all the planning that it would involve - haha. But for now we take it one day at a time!
PS. if you have any advice to traveling there by car, and also staying in Zambia - please don’t hesitate to pop me a tip or two in the comments!
We also had our yearly Walkathon on Thursday! This is something the college has been doing for years, and basically what happens is that all the students and interns of the college walk from college into town and minister to the people in the town and town businesses!
We take scriptures along to bless people.
We also go around praying for people’s businesses!
We had such a blessed time!
Well that is me for today! I believe that you all had a save and blessed Easter Weekend with friends and family
Much Love
