Zambia Mission Trip

Hello Friends, Family and all my amazing partners!!
This month I am a little late with my blog post due to being out of the county. Yes I went on a mission trip to Zambia!

Part of Charis Bible College’s second year program is to go on a mission trip. This is for the students to learn how to function as a team, speak through a translator, often in a foreign culture and unfamiliar surroundings. Read here about my 2nd year mission trip last year

This year a group of second years went to Zambia, and I volunteered to be the 3rd year that goes along.
The 3rd here does most of the planning and helping the Dean of Students once we get there. Little did I know beforehand how much planning I was signing up for, haha! But with the Lord’s help we managed to get everything sorted and was on our way!

The first 3 days of the mission trip as we drove all the way from Cape Town South Africa, thru Botswana all the way to Livingstone Zambia was the hardest but the most supernatural to me personally!

Since I love the admin side of the ministry, I had all our paperwork ready as much as possible beforehand. However on the night before we left I discovered that one of the papers we needed to temporary import the bus we hired was faulty/missing a few words.
It was at that moment that all the stress of trying to do everything by my own strength got to me. I was finished, I had had enough of trying to fix everything!
It was in that moment that I came to the end of myself and realised this is out of my hands now.
The Lord clearly told me, Heidi you did great, but you can’t do this anymore! You have to let Me do this now. He reminded me of something He said to me last year on my second year mission trip, you do the Natural and I’ll do the Supernatural.
The Lord told me, yes you’ve done everything in the natural, now let me do the supernatural!

It is only when we get to the end of ourselves, that God can fully take over in our lives.

Calatians 2:20 says:
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

This verse says that when we are born again, we identify with Christ who died on the cross. When Jesus died on the cross we died with him, when He was resurrected we were resurrected with Him. Once we become born again, we received this new nature of Christ inside of us. One that is pure, love, kind, compassionate, right with God and victorious!

When we truly understand who we are in Christ, that our old nature died on the cross with Jesus and that we have this new nature of Jesus on the inside of us. Then we understand that it is Christ that now live through us! Our bodies become a vessel for God to do the supernatural though!

From that moment on, the next thing that went wrong, I would be like “God You’re up”, and supernatural things would happened!

At the Zambian boarder, we did come in need of the one document that was faulty, and it was a problem, BUT GOD! God is greater, I just spoke in my heavenly tongue, spoke God’s power over the situation and trusted.
On one of the checkpoints, I could see the lady looking over the fault and not seeing it. For me this was so supernatural!
Yes we learn and know in your minds how much God loves and cares for us, but it’s not until you have no other option, no way out, when you are fully handing yourself over to Him, that you discover just how much He loves and cares for us!

Along the trip, the Lord also provided supernaturally for us to see so many wildlife as we traveled!

We literally “fell across” the Tropic of Capricorn! Another supernatural encounter!

The Tropic of Capricorn is the circle of latitude that contains the subsolar point on the December (or southern) solstice. It is thus the southernmost latitude where the Sun can be directly overhead

Over 46% of the Zambian population is under 15 years of age, so we did a lot of children’s ministry.

We held a 3 day kid’s conference whiles there as well, which was fantastic!

We saw children salvations, children hearing and receiving from God and lives changed.

We were also sponsored by a handful of family and college friends to go see the Victoria Falls in Livingstone!

The Vic falls is one of the 7 natural wonders of the World as well as being one the biggest waterfalls in the World!

If you are one of those friends, THANK YOU!! Also to everyone who prayed for us, thank you, we had such a blessed time!

Much Love
